I’m starting c25K!

After getting sick I’ve gained tons of weight and I am refusing to go up another pant size! It’s supposed to last 9 weeks, but I’m going to double each week to make it 18 so I can take it a bit slow. I’m also going to be doing some light weight lifting on the break days to build upper body muscle because I am so very weak in my upper body.

Mainly, I want to be able to do the Colour Run in my city at a slow jog, but also be fit enough to take up light parkour. I’m really into survival stuff, and being able to escape a situation is so important to me.

Wish me luck!

Bicycles are amazing. Cars aren’t the same; they have motors, they power themselves. But bicycles man, they’re an extension of yourself that make you a faster human being.

Gonna buy parts for my new computer next week! Then once that is built it is time to start working on building a custom bike. I’ve never done this before, I expect to crash and burn.

I don’t get it. Everything is just such a fucking pissing contest with my mom. I’ve spent the last two days in tears because she just has to be cruel.

I talk about sleeping in the park at Occupy when it was freezing? “Oh, you don’t know cold! I was homeless for three months in December in North Carolina.”

My stomach hurts. “Oh I know! My kidneys have been just killing me all day! It’s so much worse than any stomach ache.”

She openly calls the music I’m listening to shit, while I listen to it. Openly tell me I’m ugly, that my clothes don’t suit me. I’m not saying she should lie to spare my feelings but is “Ugh, that shirt? Really? That just makes you look obese.” what you tell your fucking eating disordered daughter?

I’m trying so hard to not count calories, to get better, but I just can’t do this.

All my friends love her too. It makes me feel like I’m just being a whiny bitch.

I’m (expletive deleted) starving.

Celebrity chef Mario Batali • Discussing the diet he’s currently on — he’s eating like he’s on food stamps (an average of $1.48 per meal, or $31 per week) in protest of potential cuts to the federal food stamps program. His family was nice enough to join him in what he calls a conversation starter about being hungry in the U.S. Unlike most people on food stamps, he knows ways to make the best of a bad situation, smartly sticking to foods like lentils, apples, rice, beans, peanut butter and jelly. But the problem is, eating good on a diet like this is tough, so many do not. Think his family’s experiment will be effective? (via shortformblog)

Maybe this will put it into perspective for people. Y’all out there who think food stamps magically allows people to eat like kings are ignorant, and plain old stupid. A google search will yield you the info that the average food stamp allowance for a family of 4 is 280$~ a month. Sometimes less, as that is an average. Food deserts exist, and people aren’t always knowledgeable of what “good” food is, or how to prepare it. I am interested to see how this pans out to the public.

Think about the fact that Batali definitely doesn’t live in a food desert, has decades of food knowledge to fall back on, and still is saying things like “you can live on it, but you can’t thrive.” And to save money from that food budget, he’s having his kids buy school lunch, since the average family on TANF would also qualify for free school lunches, which is another program that’s on the chopping block.

I have and will always hold Mr. Batali in the highest regard.

I think Batali is sometimes kind of a dick and always comes of as very egotistical to me, but rock on man. I hate when people tell me others shouldn’t have food stamps, or why should they pay for someone to eat better than them just because they’re too lazy. It isn’t about laziness. Yeah, some people don’t have jobs, some people don’t want jobs, some people are legitimately lazy. However, why should the majority be punished for the minority? It’s about a fucked up economy and programs that simply don’t have the funding they need to run. It’s near impossible to really live on food stamps if you don’t know how. I had to teach a friend’s family how to cook on food stamps because otherwise they would not have eaten 3 days out of the week. It sucks, and it shouldn’t be cut, people will starve if it is cut.

Why is it so easy for people to believe millions are lazy versus a hundred being greedy?
